Work Trip: Columbia Recap

This past week I was in Columbia, SC getting some training to better myself with the career I am currently in. I am not going to go into detail about my employer for security purposses, but the training facility closest to where I live is in Columbia so that is where I was sent. I was in training to learn more about Banking and how the company opens and works account processes. For the past, almost 2 years, I have been a Bank Teller, now I am cross-trained to be an FSR (Financial Sales Representative, what the Bank I work for calls it, other wise known as a banker) this way I can play with money(lol), but also open accounts for our lovely valuable customers.

When I say training weeks are the BEST weeks!! I am not lying! I love training! You get out of the house, you get out of your norm, and are able to experience more. It's also a fully payed for, no expence trip, that part is nice too! I was able to meet and mingle with other bank employees that I may never have been able to meet. I also got to see and talk to people that I already know and work with on a regular basis. We went out to lunch and dinner together pretty much everyday. Thanks to this trip, we actually were able to all hang out and get to know each other better in a non-work environment after our day was over. Its nice being able to enjoy that. Its not like we were forced to hang out after work, but the fact that we all wanted to. At home its like you have so much other stuff going on, Family, classes, etc… In Columbia it gave us all a chance to I guess slow down, relax. I mean I know we we’re all there for school and by the end of the week my BRAIN was tried like no other, but we still had fun and did things we would not normally do back home. Well that is how it felt in my perspective anyway.

The last night we were all there, the girls, decided it would be fun to go out and have a blast for our last night away. So we went to an Axe Throwing place and let off some steam lol. This place was amazing, Craft Axe Throwing, in Columbia, SC is a must! Our instructor was awesome and we all had the time of our lives. When I tell you that the 3 ladies I was with and the instructor had their mouths wide open and surprised when I landed that AXE in the wood target on my FIRST throw, I am not lying.

“I was not expecting that!”

“You got this Mighty Mouse!”

Statements straight out of my groups mouth. Buuttttt the success was short lived. The second and third aaannnddd maybe even fourth go around I could not stick the AXE anymore. I said it was beginners luck! Or the moment I got recognition that I was good, I started too fail lol. But the instructor did tell us that it was going to take us atleast 2 to 3 trys before we landed that Axe and I throw it once and it sticks… I think that was pretty impressive. My tiny self just had to show the big guys this Lil gal can hold her own.

Afterwards we strolled on over to this wonderful place called Wet Willies!! Thursday nights equal KAREOKE night!! You can imagine how this went! I had the time of my life! I actually felt like an adult! When I am at home it is hard to feel that way because I am not really considered an adult to some people or I don’t look like one. It was nice to go to a place where the whole time no one was assuming my age and I was treated equal to everyone else around me. That is a very nice feeling. Now back to Karaoke! Us girls got up there and sang to our hearts content, from Shania Twain, to Grease and as far as the Spice Girls! We got down! Enjoyed our slushies, danced until my heart hurt and laughed until I cried! Nights like that are hard to come by.

Well that was my trip!! Of course we did other things and there are a few details I left out, but some things I like to keep private and others, weeelll they are not my stories to tell lol. I hope you enjoyed how my training went or rather what happened after training went! I had a blast & For Real if your ever in Columbia check out Craft Axe Throwing, they won't disappoint.
