How to Home Dry Roses

I am a very sentimental person and when Brandon proposed to me in September I knew that I wanted to have something that would remind me of that day forever. Besides the ring, video, and pictures of course. I wanted something more special, unique, and tangible. Sooo… I have seen people send flowers from weddings to be dried and kept for a keepsake or maybe framed and hung up on the wall. Therefore the beautiful boquet of roses Brandon had for me after his proposal I wanted to have dried out and placed in a shadow box to be hung up on one of the walls in my house. Now actually finding a place to get them dried and then paying for them to be dried… I decided against. Instead I took to GOOGLE!! This is where I found an easy way to home dry your roses and still get the same result as an expensive profesional.

STEP 1. Choose the roses you would like to dry out. I decided to only do a couple because I did not want a bulky setting nor have to buy a huge shadowbox. So I chose 4 roses that I wanted to save.

STEP 2. Get a hanger and a string or rope or anything that you can tie or hook to a hanger and the stems of the roses. Unfortunately I had nothing on hand, so I got creative. I wear glasses and I love rollarcoasters, those 2 things do not mix, therefore I have a couple of handy dandy glasses cords that I would use to keep my glasses in place on my face instead of the ground. Can you guess what I used? Yep, I grabbed one of the many small ropes I had and tied one end to the plastic hanger and the other to the zip tie I used to keep the flower stems together and in place.

STEP 3. Place the hanger in a dark room temperature place. Somewhere whith no windows and the air conditioning or heater won’t particularly effect it as much. I chose my guest bedroom closet. Place the hanger on the rack and let the roses hang upside down.

STEP 4. Leave the roses hanging upside down in the special place you have chosen for 3 weeks. This way they can completely dry out. When the 3 weeks are up take the roses out of your hiding place and spray them down with some hairspray to keep them in place and to help them stay together, not falling apart.

STEP 5. Lasty pick out your shadow box or frame or book or wherever you would like to keep your meaningful roses. Arange them into the place that you would like and you are done!

I hope this little list has helped you in your venture to home drying your roses. Send me pictures or coment below how your experience turned out.
