My Wedding Dress shopping Experience
Disclaimer: the dresses below do not include the one I bought for my big day!
It all started on Saturday November 23rd. I had set 2 appointments for that day at David’s Bridal and Elegant Bridals. On Monday November 25th I had one more appointment for Tiffany Bleu. David’s Bridal was up first and to my surprise, this is where I found my dress. My style is very elegant and classic, so I never thought that somewhere as generic and common as David’s would have that dress that screamed ME!!
DAVID'S BRIDAL:
My first appointment was at David's Bridal and my first impression was… Well I was nervous because I have never done the wedding dress thing before and I was excited! I really liked the fact that it was so chill and laid back there. I was able to be me and focus on my family. Although I did think that it was a little too layed back. Because David's Bridal is such a big company they are focused on making the sale and not getting to know their customers, which is fine, but detached. The one thing that kind of bothered me was the fact that I told the lady that my mom was running behind and that I wanted to wait for her to get there before I started to try on, this was while we were walking to the dressing rooms. She told me that I couldn’t wait because we were on a time schedule and we had to stay on it. Do to this no one was able to see me in the first dress that I tried on because my family wasn’t there yet and my mother-in-law went to the door to usher them in when they got there. Other than that small hickup David's was very nice. And I got my dress for an amazing price!! Moving on to my second appointment the dresses got a little pricey!!
ELEGANT BRIDALS:
Now this bridal boutique is very personable and is all about the bride. Which I like because they make you feel very special. It was just a little much for me. The lady that helped me was very nice and excited, I could tell that she loved her job (maybe a little too much). They are also all up in your face, so going from layed back to over the top was a weird transition. It was very formal and very expensive. A lot more expensive than I would have liked. I did like some of the dresses and loved how the store was set up. But everyone with me could tell that I was uncomfortable and my entire deamour had changed from the way I was at the other shop to this one. It was just too much for me!
TIFFANY BLEU:
This shop was my favorite! It was my last appointment and the lady opened her shop up for me even though they are normally closed on Mondays. This boutique was inbetween the other two, she was very personable, but not too in your face. She was very sweet and I loved the shop! The dresses that were displayed there were beautiful! There was only one dress that compared to the one that I said yes to. It had the ideal top that I loved, but it did not have the back that I fell for on the other dress. Also it was just a little itchy at the top and around the shoulders, but on my dress it felt so comfortable. If only I could have swapped the tops of the two dresses, that would have been ideal! But ultimately it was the other one. I fell in love with it first and it was comfortable and practical once I thought about everything. The price, the alterations, and everything else that comes with getting the perfect dress. Which leads me to the best part!!
THE ONE:
I saw it on the middle mannequin right as I walked into the door. The dress was beautiful, but it was definitely not what I came in looking for. The typical thing that everyone says when you go wedding dress shopping, you come out with the complete opposite than what you came in looking for. That happened to me, for sure! I always imagined having a completely bright white dress with long sleeves and lace everywhere! That is no where near the dress that I got.
After the lady went around picking out dresses that were typical to my profile she caught me staring at it and asked if I wanted to try that one on too - umm… YES!! I walked around to the back of it and the dress was just gorgeous! My soon to be mother-in-law was with me at this point and agreed right from the start. It was the fourth or fifth one I tried on and I was instantly hooked. Everyone with me said the same thing, that I was beaming when I walked out of that dressing room! My cousin told me later that she thought I was going to cancel my other appointments and say “YES TO THE DRESS” right there! Although I didn’t because I had the mindset that I wanted to see everything that was out there. I think I was thinking that way because that dress wasn’t what I came in looking for, so my mind was still looking for that lace dress, but my heart was sitting right there in the one I was wearing.
After my last appointment at Tiffany's, you may have already guessed, I went back and got the dress!! The first one I looked at on my venture! The one I didn’t come in looking for, but opened my heart and eventually my mind, then it was all mine!! I cannot wait to walk down the isle and look into Brandons eyes and see that he knew I won in our little competition for who looks the best lol. Most of all to get to feel so beautiful and confident in it!
I can't wait for October 15th, 2020
