Home Updates: Master Closet & Dresser Organization
Hey guys and welcome back to my Blog! Yes! Today is another Home Update. I am so happy with how much progress we are able to get done to our home in the short period of time we have been moved in. This weeks update is going to be centered around my Master Bedroom Closet and Dresser. This is a project I have been putting off for a while now. I really wanted to get it done, but wasn’t sure how I wanted to do it, so it took me forever to finally just do it.
The first thing that I did was go through all of mine and Brandons Clothes. From the closests to our dressers. I took a bunch of clothes and are selling them on my Poshmark, here is a link. And others we throughout because they were pretty old or just not in good condition. To help in the Organization process I ordered a few things off of Amazon.
The stackable storage boxes I have seen so many YouTube influences use in their organization videos and I really liked the way they looked, the price is great, and I just really liked how easy they are to store. I used these bins to put mine and Brandons winter hats, my scarves, my bathing suits, and a few small makeup bags in them. I proceeded to stack them on the 1st shelf of a bookcase that I have had since I was a baby. On the top of the shelf and windowsill I added a few photos and nicknacks to kind of fill in the space. I have two small jewelry boxes that our dainty and perfect. On the floor next to the shelf I have a small basket that fits perfectly into the creves. The basket used to store all of my winter hats and scarves until I moved them into the stackable bins and replaced them with a few of my most used bags. Overnight and day bags for like the lake and such.
On the bottom shelf I layed out all of my fancy heels and next to it I hung up another item I purchased from Amazon. The hanging Organizer shelf came in handy for all of my winter sweaters and pullovers. (I have sweatshirts in a drawer in my dresser) These used to be stacked on the top shelf of the bookcase next to a bin that held all of my socks. That system really wasn’t working for me, it was taking up way too much space and just was not a good system. Thank you amazon for this amazing storage and space saver option! Next to the hanging storage I have all of my dresses from spaghetti strapped to long sleeve to short sleeve and my one Jumpsuit and my skirts are at the very end. I have my sexy lingerie hidden behind the storage unit, that is for other occasions. Above this on my wire shelf all of my purses from tall to small are lined. Next to that is one jewelry organizer and 2 storage bags that you can put toiletries and stuff in when you go out of town.
In the bottom left hand corner I have all of my cardigans, blazers, ponchos, and vests. Above this I have another jewelry organizer that I store all of my long necklaces on. I am desperately trying to find something different. Definitely a lot smaller and more practical. The Charming Charlie’s Hanger just does not fit in the space that I have now. Next to that on the floor is a shoe rack that hold the rest of my shoes. The bottom rack has long legged boots and my flats. The middle rack holds my two pairs of wedges, sandals, and flip flops. The second middle shelf holds all of my tenishies, vans, and my one pair of slippers. Finally the top shelf has my ankle boots so I could stack them, rain boots, and off brand Uggs. Above that all of my hanging blouses, short sleeve, and tank tops hang. These are mainly work tops, but I do use them for any occasion.
Below all of my hanging tops on the bottom level all of my work pants and bottoms that I prefer to be hung up rather than folded and put into a drawer, are hung. My Rompers also hang in this sections closest to the wall. On the small portion of wall I have next to my closet window I hung up some of my favorite sun hats. I thought that this was a great idea which has brought in some style and a space saving tactic. On the back of my closet door I have a overthedoor hook that hold all of my robes and my one umbrella.
Moving on to Brandons closet, there isn’t much to it. It is a pretty small space but is perfect for him. The bottom shelf on the left side hang all of his work shirts and on the bottom right all of his dress shirts, undershirt, long-sleeved shirts and dry fit tops that we want hung up are placed. On the floor in the middle is a shoe rack. There really isn’t much happening here. I try to keep his shoes in a certain order, but to be honest there is no use. Brandon just throws them back in there so now I just put them anywhere on the rack.
On the top shelf of his closet all of his t-shirts hang and on the far left his work pants are put up. Below that on the shelf is one of those stackable boxes from Amazon, this holds all of his hats.
Last but surely not least I took most of the Foldable storage bins also from amazon and placed a lot of different articles of clothing into them. I moved all of my socks and tank tops/camis into the drawer that used to house my underwear. I put both articles into separate smaller foldable bins and placed them in the small drawer. I did the same to Brandon’s side of small drawers. I separated his white and black socks into separate bins and then his underwear. The drawer over has his workout/bedtime shorts and work out tops that are organized with the bins as well.
Moving over to my chest of drawers, the top drawer used to be my bra and bathing suit drawer, but now has become my bra and underwear drawer. With the help of amazon’s zipper bins I was able to organize the drawer easily and I am now able to grab and go by finding things very easily. As I said before my bathing suits were moved into one of the stackable bins and placed in my closet. I then organized my Jean and leggings drawer by placing all of my leggings into one of the zipper bins and are now easy to grab and my jeans look a lot nicer and have more room. The last drawer I organized was my pajama drawer. I just took two of the bigger foldable bins and used one for my shorts and tops and the other for pajama sets.
I absolutely love how everything turned out! I feel so relieved and much better now that this organizing project is finally done. I feel clean and ready to tackle the day knowing that my clothes are in order and much easier to obtain. I linked everything that I used from amazon that helped me on this venture and below is a video of the entire process! You get a better overview and look of how I got everything done. As well as a more detailed view.
