Best SPA Day Ever: Love Yourself
My wonderful, amazing man finally got me the appointment that I have been longing for since my 20th Birthday! That appointment happens to be a SPA DAY! This Valentine’s Day my gift was to get a full body massage and a facial, which I enjoyed so much! My face was so soft and glowy, after my massage I felt the loosest and less tense than I have ever been. All in all I felt beyond amazing! All of the stress and physical pain I have had on my shoulders the past month has been “the real struggle” so getting to enjoy a day of relaxation to get my mind and body right was exactly what I needed.
I wanted to make this post to reference how I need to take better care of myself and learn to put my health, physical and emotional, first and not keep it on the backburner. Ultimately you can’t truly help others until you help yourself. So if any of you beautiful people, male or female, have been struggling with life and everything that comes along with it, I think you should give this a read. I know that it is a struggle to keep up with everything especially if you have kids, a full time job, family issues, or just a whole lot of different projects or responsibilities on your plate. BUT LISTEN TO ME!! I did not take care of myself and continuously placed what I thought was not a big deal to the side because I had more important things to deal with. You know where that landed me, MY BUTT WAS IN THE HOSPITAL! That was a sign to myself that my priorities needed to change. So lately I have began to change my diet and continue to take the medications prescribed and recommended to me. It definitely is not EASY, but it is something that I need to do. Your health is nothing to screw around with, especially if you have children. So PLEASE heed my words and STOP, take a breath, relax.
NOW… As for my SPA day Brandon had thoughtfully made me an appointment at Rosewater Spa and Wellness in Evans. I have never been to a Spa before so I did not know what to expect. I guess one of the reasons why it took me so long to get into one was because I did not know where to go, what was the best place to suit myself. I can definitely say that Brandon made a great choice. I had to fill out some paperwork and sign the papers for both my massage and facial. The papers really just went over what my problem areas were with both so the people treating me have a better understanding of what they need to be focusing on.
FIRST UP… My FACIAL. The young woman who did this for me was very kind and attentive. She answered any questions that I might have had. Especially considering this was my first time. We got into our little calming room with DIM lighting and a noise machine producing ocean sounds. We sat in some plush chairs where she went over the papers I had just filled out and then she asked me if I had any questions and informed me about what we were about to do. I changed into a towel and laid down on a HEATED bed, like that was amazing! I was underneath a warm fuzzy blanket and I waited for her to come back in. When she did she came behind me and sat on a stool above my head. She began with a nice cooling moisturizer and then placed a hot cloth over my face with just a hole for my nose and mouth. This was to open up my pours. She then repeated the process except she used a different kind of moisturizer. They both smelled amazing! After this she began to exfoliate my skin by using some type of scrub and then she placed a tube over my face that blew steam on my face to keep the beads moist so they could do their job, it is also pretty good for you to breath it in. She applied the scrub 3 times over the course of 10 minutes (I think, it is really hard to keep track of time while you are in there) She then placed another hot towel over my face and then after it set for a minute she wiped the excess off. Following this she stated that this process helps to determine if there are any pours that are potentially clogged, it will bring it to the surface. Luckily my skin was not bad at all so I only had to have 2 extractions of “GUNK” that was on my forehead. She then recommended that I get a light mask because my skin is actually in pretty good condition, but this way we could make sure everything is cleaned out. I opted to get it and the Lilac mask (as it was called) was very nice. She let me know that I would feel a burning sensation at first and that it would die down after about 30 seconds. I actually really enjoyed it because feeling that burning in this sense, which sort of feels like carpet burn or a scrape, because I knew and could feel that it was working. It was reapplied once and then wiped off. I had some lotion put on and I was pretty much good to go. My face felt so light and airy. Something that no face mask or wash has done for me before. I am very grateful that I got this done. I was GLOWING!
I was then transported to another waiting area where I filled out another paper, this time in reference to my massage. It was pretty much the same questions, but asked what my problem areas were for my body. While I was waiting I enjoyed some black herbal tea, which was surprising really good. (I am really picky) A few minutes past and the man doing my massage came and we enjoyed the same process as before. We talked about his process and made sure I did not have any questions. Ultimately we decided to focus on my lower back all the way up, instead of worrying about my bottom half because the root of my issues were located on my lower back and shoulders. After this he made sure I was comfortable and left the room so I could take my robe off and get on ANOTHER heated bed and underneath the fuzzy covers. Soon he joined me and began the process. I am shocked! I have never had a real massage before. I have paid to have a massage done for like 15 bucks at the mall, but sometimes that could be painful and the way they moved their hands felt like any other massage. At this SPA having a professional handle getting the tension out of my muscles felt amazing. YES, it was intense, but his movements and the way he worked the hard parts out of my muscles felt completely different than what I have known in the past. I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU, THIS WAS THE FASTEST HOUR OF MY LIFE! Within a blink of an eye, it was done! I felt very “head in the clouds” almost in a daze sort of thing for a few. He said that it was normal and to drink lots of water because he pretty much wrung out all of my muscles like a wet cloth getting all of the bad toxins out and now I need to replenish them with clean ones.
I took my time and went back up to the front desk to check out. I highly recommend that you try this! Whether it is at the SPA my wonderful Fiancé’ chose or somewhere of your choice. But set aside a time and money (if possible) to do something relaxing and rejuvenating for yourself. Remember to put yourself first and do what is right for your body and mind. We all get too carried away with our everyday lives and do not STOP and BREATHE and take the time to recognize when we need a BREAK. SOOO… I leave you with that my fellow readers. I hope I did not bore you with the details of my experience, but I hope that gave you some insight on where to go or maybe even what to get.
