Spring Break: Myrtle Beach & 22nd Birthday

Hey everyone! Welcome to my new and improved site! I am so happy to finally have my Blog to the standards that I have always wanted. With a new and beautiful site comes a new Blog with it! Last week my Husband and I took a much needed vacation to Myrtle Beach to celebrate my T. Swift year or 22nd Birthday and to relax at the beach. This trip was originally supposed to be surprise, but I knew about the trip a few weeks after it was planned. I am so happy and loved every minute of our trip. Keep reading below for the details!

We hit the road early on Thursday morning which is a huge accomplishment! We ate a quick lunch on the road that consisted of a lunchable, Pringles, and corn dogs. Beleive it or not, the gas station pick up was actually pretty good. We made it to the Hotel around 2:15, almost 2 hours before check in! Our room was ready, YAY, but we hit a snag because we thought it had already been payed for, but apparently they don’t take card payments over the phone. Thirty minutes later everything worked itself out and we headed up to our Kind Suit on the 6th floor. Our room was breath taking! For sure the nicest Hotel room I have ever stayed in. We had our King Bedroom on one end of the suit with no windows and completely separate from everything else. Very private and love how it stayed dark so the sun in the morning wouldn't wake us up. A huge Bathroom with a walk in shower and 2 shower heads linded the left wall while the marble sink and light up makeup mirror was on the other. You could leave the bathroom from our room or through the gigantic sliding door in the hallway of the suit. We had 2 closets and a personal washer and dryer. The hallway led into a Full updated kitchen that over looked the living room and balcony. We did not have an ocean facing suit but we could see the downtown lights and the beach if we looked to the right. Our stay was comfortable and elegant! We definitely weren’t used to all the rich updates that came with it!

After settling in we headed down to the boardwalk that led to the pier where we ate an early dinner at the Pier 14 restaurant right off the boardwalk! Our Hotel was definitely in the perfect location. We were in the middle of everything! The Beach behind us, the Boarwalk accompanying it that led to beach stores and attractions, the downtown lights and bars infront of us! Not to mention the mom and pop breakfast spots! Dinner was delicious, but a little chilly. The wind was in full affect that afternoon, but made barely noticeable with the live music played for the restaurant goers that were seated outside on the pier. With our bellies full I made Brandon take a few cute Birthday pics of my in the beach next to the pier! I was for sure ready to get out of the cute rompers I was wearing and slide on something something a little more comfortable!

After changing we headed out to our first of many minnie golf courses. Captain Hooks had dark blue water, two different courses, and an alligator trying to eat captain hook! Not surprisingly Brandon beat me, only by a few points! The course was fun, but pretty crowded, the change of clothes was certainly a good choice.

We ended our first night and my Birthday with a Sunset walk on the beach. We strode down to the pier and back as the blue sky turned magnified colors of red and pink. Our town in the sand, wind in our hair, and the freezing cold Ocean coming up on our feet. The evening was beautiful and topped off with Birthday cake and my Husband’s rendishen of Happy Birthday! This sweet surprise made my entire day.

Good Morning! The day started off warm and sunny. We took this opportunity to take a stoll down to a local Diner called Lulu's for Brunch. I enjoyed a mimosa and a Club Sandwich, Brandon went for a more breakfast type selection, and we had our fill! The small Brunch spot was so cute and and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend Lulu's Diner if your in the Myrtle Beach area. The 5 minute walk back to the hotel was nice and breezy. Brandon headed up to grab some sunscreen and I headed straight to the Beach! I found us a spot, laied out the towels I pulled from our hotel; stripped into my one piece, layed down with my book, and waited for Brandon to make his appearance. We relaxed there in the sun for a while and then made my way down to the shore. The Ocean water was still freezing! Although plenty of people were enjoying the Ocean water Brandon and I settled for ankle deep water. We’re from the very hot south, the wind that day added for a shore day rather than a water day. We were very surprised as to the cooler weather knowing this time of year and still being located in the south, ultimately it was still a nice sunny day. Instead of jumping into the icey Ocean we decided to take a walk along the shore line and gawked at all the washed up jelly fish that didn’t make it at high tide the day prior. I kid you not, we saw at least 30. I had to.bring out my mom voice to a little kid trying to touch one, I freaked yelling, “DON’T TOUCH IT, DON'T TOUCH IT!” I enjoyed the water on feet. After awhile it wasn't as cold like in the beginning of our trek. The wind started to pick up as we headed back to our set up on the sand, the afternoon was still early but it became a tad chilly as we sat back down on our towels. The Hotel Pool and Hot Tub were calling my name. Leaving the cooler sand we headed back up to the Hotel, entered into the pool gate, and found a spot near the covered hot tub and pool. I tried dipping into the pool first thinking that it was heated and immediately changed my mind as the cold wind made its way through the concrete Pavillion. The Hot tubade for a much nicer and warmer experience. Brandon opted for the pool chair where he covered himself in pool towels and took a nap. I read a few chapters of my current book until it became a little too steamy for my liking. We headed back up to our hotel room where we showered and got ready for a night out in downtown Myrtle Beach.

Our evening started with a walk down the boardwalk where we stopped at a few stores included the three story Gay Dolphin shop. This stop has been a tradition in my film since my childhood! Since this was Brandons first Myrtle Beach trip I wanted to make sure we continued my family tradition with him. After leaving the gigantic store we finished the left side of the strip and made our way to the right where we entered into one of the Ripley attractions. Knowing me I chose to do the Haunted Factory, but can say it is lower on my list of good haunted Attractions. The building was definitely cool looking and it makes.for good scenery for this tourist strip. After leaving Ripley’s we backtracked to the Boardwalk where we enjoyed dinner and drinks at Ocean's Front Bar and Grill. Dinner was delicious and the drinks even tastier. I ordered two Boardwalk Lemonades with one for the trek back to the Hotel. The night was supposed.to be filled with Bar hopping and lots of Adult drinks. Be it the hot sun we were in all day or the full belly I had from dinner but I was a little tired and ready to lay down. Brandon did not complain and was happy we were headed back to cuddle and watch a movie. The Boardwalk scenery made for another beautiful evening stroll.

Around 11 we got out of bed, got dressed, and headed below to the beach for another Myrtle Beach tradition. Crab hunting! This is one of my favorite memories of Family vacation. We walked the shore line to the pier and back looking for Itty bitty holes in the wet sand with our phone lights. We did not have much luck in the crab department but we found a pretty pretty shell instead!

Saturday morning we slept in a bit and then got ready for a day of attractions and mostly window shopping. Lunch was at Dick’s Last Resort, another hot family spot of mine and Brandon’s first visit. If you guys have never heard of this hilariously cool place it is a meal with sarcasm as the waiter likes to explain it. The employees are rude and make fun of you as much as possible as part of their job and your experiences. Trust me it is.more hilarious and fun than anything! Don’t let your feelings get hurt, it is way better when you laugh till you cry! The hottest and traditional part of this neat experience is the paper hats that your waiter rolls up and makes an original jab at you that is written on the hat and then placed on your head for the entire restaurant to see! I will let the photos below share our Hat experience!

The day was pretty cloudy and a few spiartic showers happend in the very early afternoon, but by the time we back tracked to Broadway at the Beach the clouds had prettyich cleared and the sun was shining bright. We jumped into the sprawl of people and walked our first trip around the long oval shaped shopping, attraction, and food strip. This was not new to me seeing as I have been to this Myrtle Beach favorite several times. Brandon took the lead and found a few places that he wanted to try put, one being a Sporst store, of course. I really wanted to do the upside down house because I have never done it, but the line was atrocious and neither one of us were up for that kind of wait for a children’s museum. I think I can say the highlight of our time at Braodway was the swarm of cat fish all around the boardwalk and bridges just beginning to be fed. Throughout the years this fish frenzy had seemed to grow! We bought some fish food and watched as they jped on and over each other to get a taste of the tiny nibles we were throwing out into the water. The fish in the water paled to the crowd that formed along the walkways and bridges of this place. That is the main reason we only went into 5 store walked the length of the park twice and then left for our second round at minnie golf.

Treasure Island Minnie golf has to be my favorite pick out of the other course we tried on our trip. The outlay doent’t look that extravagant or fun from the outside looking in, but as you get on the course and start to make your way through the holes, you would be amazing at how strategic and fun the course is. Again, not surprisingly Brandon beat me again, but not for a lack of trying! I started off great and as the last 3 holes came I started to flounder! Of course! On today’s minnie golf venture we were happy to find it nor nearly as busy as the other night. The 2 families we did have infront and behind us were pretty great company and a good laugh.

After our game came to an end we still had some time to spare before we needed to head to our scheduled dinner and show. By Brandons choice we headed to Tanger outlets for the next hour trying and failing to find him a decent pair of sunglasses. Fourty five minutes flew by and the drive to Pirates Voyage Dinner and Show was a quick one. I made the reservation the day we arrived which made for a pretty good decision because we had great seats in the second to the bottom row. Our corner seat made for a close up for a few tricks happening during the show! I won’t spiol it for anyone, but the treasure, sword fights, live animals, and water tricks made for an eventful night! Oh and the huge amount of food that they give you!

The drive back to the hotel took about 10 minutes longer than it should have so to Brandon missing the correct exit. This wouldn't have been a big deal if it wasn’t for my bladder being full.and ready to blow! At the parking garage I jumped out and ran through the hotwl.and up to our suit so I could empty myself only to find that my key card was not working! The front desk fixed the problem but not without my bladder feeling the wrath! After my ordeal was fixed I quickly changed into my new bikini and headed down to the pool before it closed in the fourty five minute window. I made a few lapse in the covered swimming pool and then sat in the hot tub until the placed closed for the night.

After showering and packing up a bit we enjoyed our last night on vacation by sitting on the balcony drinking wine and enjoying the city lights and the sound of the ocean.

Sunday Morning! We quickly made our way out of the hotel and made out way to yet another minnie golf course. This one was better than the first but definitely did not top the second. Surprisingly I finally won a game! The Spyglass Golf Course stairways and boat course made for an interesting put. The afternoon started with a lunch stop at Ultimate California Pizza which was the bomb by the way! By 12:30 we were on the road headed home!
