Adult Drink Recomendations: My Favorite Picks (So Far)
Welcome back to the blog! A few months ago I finally turned 21 years old and can now legally have some “adult” drinks! I am extremely picky… pretty much about everything! Especially when it comes to alcohol. I do not like the taste of liquor in the slightest, so I do not consume strong alcoholic drinks! I have more of a fruity and sweet pallet when it comes to this particular column of beverages. For example, when it comes to Wine I prefer Sweet over dry wines and my favorite category would probably be Rose’.
This weeks blog is going to be dedicated to some of my favorite “ADULT” drinks that I have had the honor of trying! Please feel free to utilize the comment section with some of your favorite alcoholic picks, I would love to try some of your recommendations!
STRAWBERRY DAQUIRI:
My first recommendation I will be sharing is a drink that I have loved since I was 15. (NO IT DID NOT HAVE ALCOHOL IN IT AT THE TIME) This being a STRAWBERRY DAQUIRI ! Growing up I loved to eat at Veracruz Mexican Restaurant, there they had virgin daquiris listed on the menu and I obviously wanted to try one. I ordered the strawberry daquiri and ever since then I have fallen in love with the sweet fruity taste of that slush! This is actually the drink that I wanted so badly on my 21st birthday because I had been dying to try the drink in its natural alcoholic form. (DO TO COVID I COULD NOT) A few weeks ago a friend and I went to lunch at Veracruz and I was finally able to order the long awaited alcoholic daquiri!
TATSE:
My impression of this drink was not what I was expecting! To be honest I was a little disappointed and I was actually unable to finish the drink. I should have known because most Mexican restaurants like to go pretty heavy on their alcohol consumption. The drink was especially strong! (LIKE I SAID BEFORE I DO NOT LIKE STRONG ALCOHOLIC DRINKS) I am going to go back and order it again and ask that they are easy on the alcohol and then my taste buds will be able to give a definitive answer on my likeness of the drink.
Although I did have another Strawberry Daquiri given to me by a bar at the pier in Tybee Islands Beach, that slush was very impressive and had my pallet dancing! Determining the likeness of a drink really can very because know one makes it the same. I was also taught how to make home made daquiri’s thanks to my almost Mother-In-Law! I have made them multiple times since my 21st Birthday and definitely enjoy them, although I prefer “professionally” made daquiris than homemade. Mine do not always turn out in the correct slush form and instead have a more liquid texture.
STRAWBERRY MARGARITA SWIRL:
I absolutely love this drink! This same friend and I went on another lunch date, I was nonchalantly skimming through the cocktails they offered and my eyes automatically found this drink! Do you see a pattern? I obviously have a thing for Strawberry drinks! This particular frozen margarita is from the restaurant Cheddars. This spiral drink had regular margarita mix on one side as well as the added real fruit strawberry on the other. (I DO NOT HAVE A LIST OF INGREDIENTS, BUT I WISH I DID)
TASTE:
The strawberry infused cocktail has become one of my favorites do to the sweet fruity taste that it leaves on your pallet even after you have finished. The aesthetic of the drink gave it major points as well. Half way through the drink the alcohol flavor became apparent, but after a good stir I was able to thoroughly enjoy the remainder of the slush. I highly recommend giving this Frozen Margarita a try! ROSE’ SANGRIA:
I have craved this beauty ever since I first tried it while on a dinner date with a girlfriend! This was actually my second choice on the menu do to the fact that my first was unavailable at the time. I am abundantly happy that my first choice was absent, my taste buds say thank you! Even on mine and Brandon’s date night this month I made him take us to Carolina Ale House just so I could get this drink again!
TASTE:
It is hard to explain what this Sangria tastes like, other than the general IT IS AMAZING! The one thing that I can definitely attest too is the fact that the drink is not remotely strong! I think that is a big part of why I like it so much. (EVEN IF YOU PREFER STRONG DRINKS YOU CAN MAKE IT AS STRONG OR WEAK AS YOU WOULD LIKE BY ADDING AND TAKING OUT THE ALCOHOL PUT INTO THE DRINK) One odd thing that caught me off guard from when I tried it the first time and when I had it for the second time was the color. I was served a light pink sangria the first go around, but when I ordered it on my date night with Brandon it was an orangish color. It could be the fact that more wine was inputted the first time and more grapefruit juice the second? (EVEN THOUGH GRAPEFRUIT JUICE IS MORE PINK THAN ORANGE) The important thing is that it tasted the exact same both times the restaurant served it!
I have tried to reenact this drink at home, but unfortunately I was unable to get the same taste I was craving. Do not get me wrong, the drink did not taste bad at all, it just was not what I was looking for. Partly because we were unable to find all of the ingredients listed to make this specific drink on the menu at Carolina Ale House. Not to mention Brandon made the drink waayyy to strong! HONORABLE MENTIONS:
This drink was the first one I was able to try in public being the legal age of 21. Regrettably I do not remember the name of the drink, but it was from Chili’s and a cocktail drink served in a martini glass. It was a frozen drink and I believe that it was a type of margarita, I know that it had Grenadine it, I recall that because I can literally drink grenadine straight, I LOVE IT! (I KNOW IT IS JUST A SYRUP AND NOT ALCOHOLIC) I have inserted a picture below so if you remember it, please feel free to leave me a comment with the correct name!
This “on the rocks” drink is actually a concoction I came up with on my own while hosting one of the many get togethers held at my house. It includes Blue Curacao and Lemonade! This drink tastes sort of like a lemon lime soda, which is weird that I say I like the flavor because I absolutely dislike Sprite, Mt. Dew, Sierra Mist, etc.. (BY ITSLEF, and do not judge! I came to not like these drinks due to being forced to drink a disgusting medicine when I was little)
HUNCH PUNCH is also a very fruit infused tasteful drink! I have only had the courtesy of having Hunch Punch a couple of times and the first and main one being at the Halloween party Brandon and I hosted in 2019. A friend of ours and her boyfriend made this alcoholic punch to have at our party and it was an absolute hit! I wish I could have this drink more often, but it is a very expensive and time consuming drink to make.
STELLA ROSA is an amazing Wine line that I have come to love! My favorite Wines from her line are Berry and Pink and they are on the sweeter side. I am so excited to continue to try different flavors of the Stella Rosa Wine Line!
Lastly, WINE COOLERS! My go to wine cooler is none other than Seagraves Strawberry Daquiri! Another favorite of mine would be most of the Mikes Hard Lemonade drinks. You can find most of these wine cooler options at your local Walmart.
I really hope you enjoyed the couple of “Adult” drinks that I cling to when I go out! I am steadily trying to try at least one new drink at the restaurants I attend to get “My signature” drink everywhere I go. (DOES THAT MAKE ME SOUND LIKE AN ALCOHOLIC?) My alcoholic tastes are very singular and pretty picky so I probably will not find something that I like everywhere. I cannot drink liquor by itself and probably never will. I encourage you to try the drinks listed, especially if you are in the mood to try something new! Enjoy your weekend, I hope you try some of these out!
