Wedding Update Vol. 3
Happy March Everyone! It has been almost 3 months since my last update, but a couple of changes have ensued since then. We are 7 months away from the big day and the Venue, Photographer, DJ, and Food Vender are all still the same and set in stone. Since the last update I have met with my Florist and have scheduled a cake testing as well as got the Save the Dates out and the official Wedding invitations ordered. (To get them out of the way) So now lets jump into the details.
NEW VENDERS -
As of February 22nd I secured the Florist. We are using Martina’s Flowers, they are very well known and I got an amazing price point for what I am getting. I did do research on other Florists around town, for example, Flowers on Broad, but they were super expensive and I am on a strict budget. At my Planning appointment we decided on my bouquet as well as the Bridesmaids bouquets. The Groomsmen and Grooms boutonnieres. They each get a purple rose. Next we discussed the Mothers corsages, which are carnations, and the Fathers boutonnieres, also a purple rose. Lastly we ordered a couple packs of rose petals for the flower girls. The final price came to $600 which is not bad at all for Flowers. (roses are expensive) I did go over my price point by $100, but Brandon and I agreed that it would be okay, considering we are cutting costs in the Décor budget. (more on that in a moment)
Brandon and I have an appointment for March 14th at Delightful Bites Bakery to cake test for the Wedding and Groom cakes. I am very excited about this! This bakery has an amazing price point and is also very professional. I am more than ready to taste what they have to offer us. Brandon and I know exactly what kind of design that we want for his grooms cake, but we have know idea what kind of design that we want for our actual wedding cake, other than it having three tiers. Thankfully I was told that the designer can help us out with that at our appointment.
The Cake and the Florist were the only 2 venders that I had left on my list, so hopefully, if everything goes well, after the 14th of this month we will be completely done with the Vender portion of the Wedding planning. Of course we will still be having planning sessions and payment plans in place, but as far as having them secured and official for the big day will be complete.
DECOR CHANGES -
This is where the florist comes back into play. I have decided not to have floating candles as the centerpieces for the reception. A couple of reasons why, I was never that “CRAZY” about them in the first place. This option was just the cheapest that I could find, that I liked even a little. I know that there are a lot of different options for centerpieces, but I want to have something different that you do not normally see and I never wanted an extravagant over sized flower arrangement. SOOOO… for the final decision… I am getting one vase for each table and I am still placing the little purple crystals at the bottom. I will then half-way fill them with water, after the Ceremony and the pictures the Bridesmaids will then place their bouquets in the vases at the center of the table. The same goes for me with the sweetheart table. I was actually given this idea from a lady that works at the Flower shop. I was waiting to set up an appointment and I was telling her about my plans and she told me how some brides had done this. Right away I thought it was a really good idea. This way instead of having the beautiful REAL flowers that I payed good money for, be laid down on a table to just get ignored and maybe even destroyed. I decided to do things this way following my Florist appointment to get the rest of the details. The next step is to order 3 more bouquets for the remaining tables. This will be added into the décor budget so it does not effect the flower budget. I am also saving almost two hundred dollars by doing it this way. Ultimately… it was a no brainer.
In continuation with the Floral theme, I will also be getting 2 pieces of garland, one to outline the back drop (the white sheet with our saying on it) that will be placed behind us when we get married and the other will be placed on our mirrored wedding sign. I have also not decided on if and what I will get for accent flowers for the Ceremony portion of the wedding. I am still getting the ball of clustered purple flowers to align the isle. These I still plan on getting from amazon because I discussed getting real ones from the florist, but was told that I am able to get them cheaper from the website. Hopefully they will be the perfect size and not too small. I am ordering one pack to verify this before I buy them in bulk.
The last thing for décor that I have is an update on what I completed from the last post. The sheer dark purple table runners have been ordered and the Save the Dates have been sent out. I have also ordered the wedding invitations from Shutterfly, there was a big Valentines day sell going on so I decided to jump on that deal. The next thing to do with that is address, stamp, and send them out at the end of May.
PHOTOGRAPHER PAYOFF -
Another big thing that has changed if the payoff time and planning session for my wedding photographer and videographer. I planned on having this set and payed when I got my taxes back/March, unfortunately I was admitted into the hospital and the medical bills had a different idea. So now I am waiting until mid May to have this payment completed and the first planning session ensued. This month will be dedicated to paying of some off the hospital bills.
The new things on my list are to solidify the new décor items and start accumulating more of this category. I need to find the perfect Frame (STILL) for the mirrored wedding sign and really get the wedding hashtag completed. I have narrowed it down, just going to get some feed back from Brandon and that announcement will be made on my personal social media page later this month. I am also getting ready to start planning for my Bridal Shower! I am so very excited to start doing this. I will be planning this and giving the details in a separated post from the Wedding Updates because I think that it would be entirely to long of a post. Thank you so much for clicking in and I am getting more and more excited the closer it gets!
